Colour Theory

We've included a simple Fitzpatrick chart for you to refer to when selecting appropriate colour shades for your procedure. Many of you will be familiar with this universal method of determining skin types, but it's always a handy resource to refer back to.

Since colour is a very personal subject, please don't hesitate to give us a call if you need more details - or the benefit of our experience.

FP1: Skin is highly sun-sensitive. Always burns, never tans. E.g: Fair red-heads with freckles. FP1 Skin types may be warm or cool.

FP2: Very sun-sensitive. Easily burns, rarely tans. Eg: Fair complexion, fair-haired caucasians. FP2 Skin types may be warm or cool.

FP3: Sun-sensitive. May burn, but will turn into a golden tan. Eg: Dark blonde to dark brown haired caucasians, usually brown-eyed. Although most FP3 skin types are cool, some warm undertones do exist.

FP4: Low sun-sensitivity. May burn, but will quickly tan dark-brown. Eg: Mediterranean with Olive skin tones - also sometimes Asian skin types. Most FP4 types are considered cool.

FP5: Low to no sun-sensitivity. Very rarely burn, and quickly tan a dark brown colour. E.g: Hispanics, Asians, and some black skin-types. Most FP5 types are cool.

FP6: Will not burn. Skin deeply pigmented. E.g: Dark black skin. FP6 skin types are cool skin tones.
